WHAT IS SNUFF?

In general, the term snuff refers to any powdered preparation to be inhaled through the nose. Most commonly, though, snuff refers to a powdered tobacco product.
The process of preparing snuff has changed little over the centuries. Depending on the blend being prepared, tobacco leaves, and sometimes stalks, are broken down into a coarse powder. They are then ground in a mill or using a hand-powered machine, and finally sieved. In some cases oils and other flavourings are added, and the preparation is stored to allow the flavours to mingle.
